Heal’s (Stand L310) heads up a stellar line up of major brands in 100% Interiors 2014. A first time exhibitor, the iconic retailer launches its Heal’s Discovers collection, the result of its annual competition – now in its 10th edition – to find the best young design talent.

Products by superstars of the current British design, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and Jasper Morrison, are highlights of the new Home Collection from Vitra (Stand L110). Meanwhile Sir Terence Conran, arguably contemporary design’s founding father, has created an outdoor furniture collection for Fermob, (Stand L230) inspired by what he saw in his own garden. Other stand out contemporary design firms include Pinch (Stand L220), which will be launching the Derome Bulb table lamp and the Harlosh bedside table. Case Furniture (Stand 112) meanwhile will be launching an update to the 675 chair by Robin Day in a more compact version but still with all the classic style of the original.

As well as home grown firms, 100% Interiors attracts a raft of international talent such as Dutch designers Studio Job who bring their unique leftfield creativity in a wallpaper collaboration with NLXL, which will be presented as part of Pad Home’s collection (Stand L202).

Emerging Brands

Adjacent to Interiors is the Emerging Brands section of 100% Design where visitors can spot the design stars of the future. It features a carefully curated selection of young companies from around the world, which have chosen 100% Design as their launch pad to mainstream success. Mexican design studio Jakob Gomez’s (Stand D10) pieces all share a beautiful, pragmatic appeal, and 100% Design 2014 is the only place in London to see the studio’s work. Its GiBooth taps into the need for concentrated work and confidential conversations, while its CBFM chair combines precision in composition with the warmth of wood.

Montreal-based designer Löic Bard (Stand D26) has chosen 100% Design for his first solo exhibition during London Design Festival. His Capside lamps combine abstract geometric forms with a wooden exterior and colourful interior, doubling as both floor lamps and ceiling pendants. Bard’s work is largely based on his travels.

Many companies are making their debut at this year’s Emerging Brands including London-based Sandro Lopez (Stand D29) who will present the Parallax coffee table which challenges the viewer to explore from different viewpoints, as well as lighting company Stableford’s (Stand D32) and Belgian furniture manufacturer format (Stand D12). Emerging Brands is where creativity meets commercial ambition: a place where design’s future household names are made.

International Pavilions

Reinforcing 100% Design’s position on the global design calendar is the strength of the International Pavilions this year. Creative talent from around the world including Mexico, Argentina, France, Lithuania, Estonia, Venice, Genoa, South Africa, Shenzhen, Kuwait and Pakistan is taking part. These are some of the highlights:

The popular Argentina will be returning to the International Pavilions once again at 100% Design this September. The pavilion is organised by the Embassy of Argentina and curated by the Argentine National Creative Industries Department with the aim of supporting and promoting the growth of an array of interior design producers, designers and small companies.

These high quality producers use special techniques and actively challenge the traditional market by proposing designs based upon an innovative and original language, utilizing one of today’s most valued resources: creativity. The Argentine space will showcase cultural diversity, identities, techniques, craftwork and materials such as wood, leather, ceramics and textiles among others.

Coalesce Design Studio is a multidisciplinary team of designers who push past traditional ideologies in order to deliver highly covetable, cutting edge designs. Created in a place where pushing boundaries is the norm, they are mavericks who celebrate the manifestation of opposing forces and revel in the marriage of conventional with contemporary.

In keeping with its signature style of beautifully displaying Pakistan’s native patterns and crafting techniques in sleek, modern forms, Coalesce will present a visual treat in their craft inspired collection, ‘5’.

France-based international architect, designer and interior landscaper Francesca Attala will showcase her designs, Attala Creations and interior landscaping products for 22 Degres on the French pavilion at 100% Design 2014.

Collaborating with the British manufacturer Livingreen Design, Attala will present an innovative range of green lifestyle products. Exciting new products include a unique modular Feature Wall, a concept combining elements of artificial and living vertical gardens with design features in a myriad of possible colours and finishes.

22 Degres will feature French designed bespoke semi-natural tree kits, available up to a height of 10m.

Leading Lithuanian industrial designers will present a selection of 21st century classics for the first time at 100% Design. The majority of designs to feature on the Lithuania pavilion have been selected from work by the winners of Lithuanian design award Good Design and demonstrate innovative design solutions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to become acquainted with Lithuanian design, which showcases high quality woodwork, new technologies, and modern interpretations of folk art patterns. The Lithuania pavilion is organised by the Lithuanian Design Forum, supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the UK.

This year’s International Pavilions will also be home to a secondary event space, The Arena. This will host a range of talks, presentations, meetings and business networking events during the show. These include China Design Day on Wednesday 17 September, a conference to promote China’s growing design industry; colour masterclass from Global Color and an Architect’s Pitch competition organised by archiboo for young practices to perfect their presentation skills.
