Archiboo – David Marks discusses the i360

Archiboo returns for a fourth season this month, kicking things off with David Marks, of architecture firm Marks Barfield, presenting the design journey of the UK’s most ambitious tourism project since the economic downturn.

This latest venture by David Marks – which has been preceded by an illustrious career of working alongside leading architects such as Richard Rogers and Norman Foster, and on pioneering schemes such as the London Eye – will see an aerodynamic structure on Brighton’s sea front rise to the height of 138 metres above sea level, making the i360 the world’s tallest moving observation tower.

In his Archiboo presentation, David Marks will talk through the steps taken to prevent the project from almost collapsing in 2008 during the recession, and will challenge architects to seek more innovative forms of funding for their visions to be realised.

‘The view from up here: David Marks on the UK’s most ambitious tourism project’ will be hosted by Studio Egret West on the 11 November at 18:30.
