In September 2013, during the London Design Festival, this elegant chair was announced the winner of a competition held by the Bodleian Libraries to design a future classic for its readers, as part of Wilkinson Eyre’s refurbishment of the New Bodleian Library, now renamed the Weston Library. The chair design will become an important part of the interior scheme for the building, originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and continues Bodleian Libraries history of commissioning bespoke furniture.

A perfect fit – the winning chair exemplifies Barber and Osgerby’s deeply researched and intellectual approach to design with inspiration that came from their strong local knowledge of the Bodleian Libraries and its cultural setting.

Next year looks set to be another fantastic year for the design duo! The chairs will be installed in the new Weston Library, which will open its doors to the public at the end of March 2015.
