The show took over three halls inside the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, a neoclassical landmark built in the 1950s. The organisers brought along some really interesting Western design brands to the show – from Hay and Alessi, to Fritz Hansen and Cole and Son. The likes of Ilse Crawford and Michael Young also spoke at the seminars, while Wallpaper Handmade came to Shanghai with five new collaborations.
Many of the exhibiting brands are household names to us in the West, yet they are almost unknown to the Chinese audience there. We could feel a real buzz at the show, and it was fascinating for us to see such an overwhelming response with unprecedented enthusiasm among both exhibitors and visitors.
