Phelan Architects redevelops historic York racecourse

York Racecourse, one of the UK’s most historic and loved racecourses, has undergone a £10m redevelopment by Phelan Architects. Home to the annual Ebor Festival in August, the racecourse attracts 330,000 race goers each year and the owners, trainers and jockeys of the world’s highest rated thoroughbreds.  The racecourse features the only grade II*-listed racecourse building in the country – the John Carr grandstand constructed in 1753. Phelan Architects has created great new facilities for jockeys, trainers, racegoers and, of course, the horses. Experience the spectacle of racing from the beautiful new Champagne Lawns between now and the end of the season in October.
