London Design Festival sees the launch of Robert Welch – Design: Craft and Industry by Charlotte and Peter Fiell, a major new retrospective on the life and work of Welch, one of the leading British designers of the twentieth century.
The book marks the 60th anniversary of Robert Welch setting up his design studio at the Old Silk Mill, Chipping Campden in 1955, where the family-run company is still based today. Featuring exclusive material from the Robert Welch Archive, Charlotte and Peter Fiell’s beautifully illustrated publication explores the enduring relevance of this pioneering designer, who had such a crucial and creative influence on the course of Modernist product design in the UK.
The book will be launched at a drinks reception with the authors at the Margaret Howell store, 6 – 8.30pm on Wednesday 23rd September. Further details can be found here.
