James Gorst Architects

The brief

Noted for their sensitive and highly crafted approach to architecture, James Gorst Architects has a reputation for creating and restoring beautiful projects on complex sites, from Mykonos to Clerkenwell and Suffolk.

James Gorst Architects approached Caro Communications with ambitions to raise the profile of the studio, build and develop media relationships, explore thought leadership angles and ultimately to unpack the story of 40 years in practice.

What we did

Our first priority was to get under the skin of the studio, to understand its expertise, priorities and ambitions, as well as abilities. In-depth site visits as well as interviews with staff opened a dialogue that guided our strategy development.

From there we established a programme of press announcements around key project milestones, including the New Temple Complex, Castle Community Rooms and an apartment in Clerkenwell.

Our strategy also involved creative direction for visual assets, the development of different voices within the studio, networking and award submission guidance.

The results

A series of international award wins, including Design of the Year at the AJ Awards 2023 and FRAME Awards Winner of the Year 2023 as well as extensive, global press coverage

Highlights included a cover feature in the Architects’ Journal, a profile of practice director David Roy in The Modern House Journal, and building studies in Dezeen, Elle Décor Italia, BBC Culture, Global Design News, WABISABI and ICON.
