Caro’s postcard from India

After the show, we took a group of journalists on to Udaipur as guests of our longstanding client Studio Saar. Together, we visited the Third Space project, an innovative cultural learning centre for Dharohar.

This trip stood in complete contrast to our experience of intense exhibition and talks activity in Mumbai and was complemented by a visit to the extraordinary textile workshop of Aavaran founded by Alka Sharma to revive and sustain the traditional craft of Dabu, hand block printing using mud resist technique – producing beautiful textiles and ensuring the economic empowerment of the indigenous craftspeople in the region.

Finishing off the Caro Indian odyssey for 2024. a final leg of our visit took us on a mad afternoon excursion to the wonderful city of Bangalore where we met with the team behind design brand Tiipoi and dropped into its new store for a touch of gentle retail therapy at the recently launched General Items store founded by Spandana Gopal and Malini Malik.
