The Sunderland Collection and Oculi Mundi

It’s been a bumper year for our friends at The Sunderland Collection and Oculi Mundi: 2024 launched with a six-page cover feature in Country Life, celebrating the enduring fascination and artistry of the collection’s cartographical treasures, as well as its exquisite editions created with master printmaker Kristina Chan.

Late spring saw The Sunderland Collection’s Art Programme launch exhibition curated by Beth Greenacre and a stunning installation at No.9 Cork Street of the work of Nubian-Egyptian artist Fathi Hassan. Nearby on Jermyn Street, pieces from the collection’s first ever collaboration with legendary fine jeweller GRIMA were unveiled, followed by new handmade jewels in autumn.

In September, Oculi Mundi’s new podcast WHAT’S YOUR MAP?, hosted by Jerry Brotton, debuted to much acclaim, and in October at the Bodleian Library a global lineup of speakers explored innovations in mapping at The Sunderland Collection’s first symposium, Maps are too Exciting! Among all of this, we grew Oculi Mundi’s much-loved Instagram to over 17k followers. We’re ending the year celebrating two Lovie award wins for Oculi Mundi, and full of enthusiasm for an action packed 2025.
