National Pavilion of Ireland at Biennale Architettura 2018

The vital role that market places play in the life of rural communities will be celebrated in Free Market, the Irish Pavilion exhibition at the Biennale Architettura 2018.

Curated by six young architects and designers, Free Market examines the role of markets in rural Irish communities, their gradual demise and their importance for economic and social engagement. The pavilion will be transformed into a rural Irish market square, complete with market stalls, goods, soundscape and a daily newspaper with a range of contributors. After the Biennale Architettura, Free Market will return to Ireland to tour small towns around the country in 2019, gathering stories and participants and continuing to evolve along the way
