Launching a showcase exhibition of animated architectural supermodels

The brief

Caro Communications was appointed to work with the team at Piercy&Company to launch and promote a temporary exhibition at Regent Quarter, King’s Cross London N1 in the winter of 2022.

The exhibition, entitled Supermodels, was a creative body of work that represented the distillation of 20 years of Piercy&Company’s design thinking around the importance of the haptic, sensory and experiential in architecture.

Employing mechanical automata, projection, sound, light and scent, the interdisciplinary studio experiments in how far the architectural model can be pushed as a tool for engaging audiences and communicating ideas around buildings and the built environment.

The team at Piercy&Company wanted to attract a broad audience of culturally minded individuals to the exhibition, to build the firm’s strong reputation and give visitors an insight into the power of craft, making and architecture.

What we did

Over a three-month period in the lead up to the exhibition, the Caro team was responsible for:

  • Event management and planning for an evening private view, including guest-list administration, coordination of catering and sourcing and managing catering staff
  • Organisation of a press breakfast and facilitating individual tours for journalists
  • All press activity, including creating bespoke press lists and distribution of press releases
  • Outreach to local institutions and industry commentators

The results

The exhibition private view was attended by almost 400 people including leading figures from cultural institutions and museums, industry commentators and other media figures.

The exhibition was featured widely on social media, and in publications including The Guardian, Wallpaper*, Design Week and disegno.

Caro raised awareness of the exhibition, generating extensive footfall for its two-week duration – with over 1,000 visitors in the closing weekend alone.
