Designers reinterpret Sir John Soane’s collection

Sir John Soane’s Museum will once again be hosting a dedicated pop-up exhibition to coincide with London Design Festival. Featuring work by contemporary designers, architects and artists, the exhibition reinterprets the fragments that feature throughout the museum’s collection. These one-off pieces explore how the fragment of a whole can be viewed as a complete object in its own right, and how viewing an object in a different context can evoke an alternative meaning.

Arranging Marbles by Gemma Holt

For this unique exhibition, curatorial collective Workshop for Potential Design invited five artists and designers – Paul Elliman, Gemma Holt, Sam Jacob, Peter Marigold and Study O Portable – to respond to the concept of the fragment. The exhibition, titled pieces, will be on display throughout the festival, and is free to visit.
