The right mix of flexible office furniture in an open office facilitates a variety of work modes – namely Education, Work & Hospitality. Each mode represents activities regularly found in today’s offices yet are tied to a different need for the furniture – group seating for an audience, workspaces for varying project teams, or comfortable seating supporting social gatherings.

At 100% Design, Vitra (Stand W330, Workplace) will demonstrate the benefits of flexible workspaces by transforming its stand layout every two hours daily, to highlight the interchangeable work modes. The stand will feature the UK launch of Hack and Allstar by Konstantin Grcic, Workbays by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, and Super Fold Table by Jasper Morrison.

In addition to the Belleville launch, Vitra has collaborated with designjunction on a charity project named ‘A Child’s Dream’ to raise funds for Teddy’s Wish. The charity was established in 2014 to aid research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), neonatal death and stillbirth while supporting grieving families.

As part of ‘A Child’s Dream’, 21 world-renowned designers and architects have been invited to re-interpret the iconic Eames elephants donated by Vitra. The final designs will be showcased in an installation designed by Anthony Dickens and Studio Make Believe in Victoria House. The elephants will be put to an online auction which opens on Wednesday 23 September for two weeks, with all proceeds going to Teddy’s Wish.

Participating designers and architects include: Aukett Swanke, Lee Broom, CKR, FRONT, Fredrikson Stallard, Industrial Facility, Kenneth Grange, Gensler, Eley Kishimoto, André Klauser, Max Lamb, Philippe Malouin, Michael Marriott, Kit Miles, Neri & Hu, Patternity, Russell Pinch, Raw Edges, Zandra Rhodes, Terence Woodgate and Sebastian Wrong.

As part of the London Design Festival 2015, an exhibition entitled ‘Timeless Design’ at Harrods will bring together leading international brands, including Vitra, to showcase previously unseen archive and limited-edition pieces as well as exclusive launches.

At the exhibition, Vitra will focus on the works of Charles & Ray Eames and their important contribution to the past, present and future of furniture design. This retrospective will explore the journey of their designs and how the Eames design philosophy continues to profoundly shape and inspire design in the contemporary world.

Accompanying the retrospective will be archived imagery, with an installation highlighting the iconic seating solutions designed throughout the last century that still remain timeless today.
