Go behind the scenes of a major museum revamp in Nantes
Following a six-year transformation and extension by Stanton Williams, the Musee d’arts de Nantes opened its doors to the public last month. The €48.8m modern extension sits alongside the building’s 17th and 19th century elements and the project has shaken up the image of this prestigious cultural building – one of the largest fine arts Museums in France outside of Paris. An exhibition at the museum, curated by Stanton Williams, covers the entire transformation, from competition, planning and construction through to completion – a must if you are interested in the processes involved in designing a significant public museum. It runs until the end of the year.
