A group show examines new art territories at Gallery 46

Garlic Man, by Asaki Kan

A new wave of curation from East London’s Gallery 46 brings together eight established and emerging artists in ‘A Solar Umbrella’.

Reflecting on repetition, geometric pattern and new territories in art, the artists’ inspiration is the theme of apocalyptic crystallisation explored in JG Ballard’s 1966 novel ‘The Crystal World’. The mixed-media show spans assemblage, painting, installation, collage and sculpture to question norms of representation in art.

A Solar Umbrella’ features works by Asaki Kan, Katherine Lubar, Nick Dawes, Jo Marshall, Andy Harper, Shane Bradford, Ivan Benitez and Sarah Mizer (until 14 February 2019).
