Leeds on track to become pioneer for low-carbon living
The first steps of an innovative new masterplan are underway, set to turn Leeds South Bank into a pioneering district in the UK’s ambition for zero-carbon cities. The ‘Climate Innovation District’ is the brainchild of White Arkitekter, whose roots are in developing new eco-neighbourhoods in Scandinavia. On this occasion, White Arkitekter is working with Leeds-based sustainable developer Citu, to create a neighbourhood that is cycle-friendly, full of green spaces, and where the 500 Passive House homes are built on-site, with fitted solar panels, and positioned to maximise their solar potential. Work is currently underway to bring this eco-dream into a reality.
