New canal crossing at Kings Cross

This slender new bridge designed by Moxon Architects in partnership with Arup, spans the Regent’s Canal between Camley Street and Gasholder Gardens, forming an important connection for pedestrians and cyclists to the West End and Camden. In a feat of structural engineering, the bridge’s steel plate beam spans the entire 38m crossing without intermediate support. In keeping with the vicinity’s Victorian design, it features a sweeping ramp leading pedestrians up to the bridge and over the water, and an elegant parapet that transitions from stainless steel to planed hardwood.
