One to watch: Neri & Hu architects
During our trip to Shanghai in February, we checked out a few things that designers Neri & Hu have recently laid their creative hands on.
Right now, Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu are the hottest Asian names in the design scene. Though the duo is based in China, their work is far from the stereotype. It has a global appeal that is not necessarily bound by the duo’s ethnic origin.
Neri & Hu run three lifestyle stores under the name Design Republic in Shanghai, selling contemporary brands from Tom Dixon to Hay and Bocci. At Design Shanghai, they launched a new furniture range with Stella Works, and also collaborated with Wallpaper magazine on its Handmade exhibition. On the architecture front, they recently designed a super chic boutique hotel, The Waterhouse which won Inside Festival‘s Interiors of the Year in 2011, and a warehouse-turned-showroom for Camper in Shanghai.
