Oculi Mundi – the eyes of the world
Oculi Mundi is an innovative digital heritage destination that celebrates the art, science and stories of historic maps.
It is the digital home of The Sunderland Collection, an extraordinary collection of early cartography that champions heritage skills, craftsmanship, art and ideas. Comprising more than 130 exquisite cartographic items from the 13th to the early 19th century, the collection includes world maps, celestial maps, atlases, globes and books of knowledge.
Oculi Mundi launched to the public in October 2023, and Caro provided a full suite of communications activities to accompany the launch. Caro continues to support Oculi Mundi and The Sunderland Collection with a range of services including press outreach, social media content production, and digital strategy. In addition to securing editorial features in publications including The New York Times and National Geographic, a recent milestone was reaching 10,000 followers on Oculi Mundi’s acclaimed Instagram feed.
