Vitra has launched limited editions of two of its most iconic designs – the Eames Lounge Chair and the Grand Repos chair.
To mark the 60th anniversary of Charles and Ray Eames’ famous design, which first went into production in 1956, Vitra has introduced the Lounge Chair and Ottoman with twill fabric covers complete with a ’60 Years in Production’ label. The limited-edition version echoes the Eames’ own belief that even classics need to be developed and updated from time to time, with the designers often creating various versions of the Lounge Chair.
The high-quality twill fabric that has been used for this limited-edition version has been taken from the Vitra Colour and Material Library, and imbues the chair with a softness and warmth.
In addition, Vitra has also launched a limited-edition version of Grand Repos, upholstered in the velour fabric ‘Nobile’. Vitra and Antonio Cittero jointly developed the original design, which introduced a new level of comfort and flexibility to the home with its generous padding, inviting armrests and high backrest. The new velour fabric gives this classic chair a new level of sophistication and elegance, reminiscent of grand hotel lobbies and traditional clubs in Paris, London or Vienna.
Both limited edition-chairs are available until 31 January 2017 at selected Vitra retailers.
