Illuminated River is a public art commission on an unprecedented scale: a unified installation conceived to light central London’s bridges along the River Thames for 20 years.
In 2016, the team led by the internationally acclaimed American light artist Leo Villareal, and renowned British architects and urban planners, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, were selected as the winners of the international design competition run by the Illuminated River Foundation and the Mayor of London. Their proposal is a kinetic installation which uses the power of light and colour to engage communities with a dynamic and interactive interplay with the river. This free public art experience will be the first time that the lighting of London’s bridges has been considered as a whole.
Caro Communications is working with The Illuminated River to deliver an overarching communications strategy, including social media, which aims to engage with Londoners and promote key campaign moments.
