ADAM Architecture

The brief – future-proofing a brand rooted in heritage

In the Autumn of 2023 Caro was invited to look under the bonnet of ADAM Architecture’s communications operation to tackle historic blockages and help steer its public facing collateral into the 21st century.

A fascinating few years have followed as we got to know ADAM Architecture and became part of its wonderfully warm team spanning London and Winchester. We’ve immersed ourselves in all aspects of its traditional approach and have come to fully understand what the brand represents. From our first conversations with the Board, we’ve collaborated with the ADAM team to develop a weather-proof brief with which to reach out to a bespoke list of design agencies. After deep consideration of a stellar shortlist, Studio Small, perhaps more celebrated for its contemporary fashion and product work, was selected for the job.

What we did – contemporary communications

Our services for ADAM Architecture across project communications, including a new town in Cornwall, the inaugural WOW!house façade, and some of the world’s finest country seats and townhouses, have been complemented by the development of cultural partnerships and gentle content and digital media support. Meanwhile Studio Small has calmly created a new marque, devised a covetable portfolio of marketing collateral and wholly redesigned the practice website.

Guy Marshall of Studio Small comments:

‘The rebrand of ADAM Architecture began not with a visual idea, but with a way of understanding the practice itself. Through research, workshops, and conversations, one thought in particular stood out. George Saumarez Smith described the practice as being akin to a Lebanon Cedar, an image that became both a lens and a foundation for the project. The Lebanon Cedar is ancient, enduring, and expansive. It is deeply rooted yet continually growing outward. This duality — permanence and progression, felt intrinsically true to ADAM. A practice grounded in classical principles, yet never constrained by them. A body of work shaped by tradition, but always responding to the present and projecting into the future.

Caro’s services for ADAM included:

  • Key messaging
  • SEO audit
  • Google analytics audit
  • Brief writing and agency interview management
  •  Project research and copywriting
  • Image/video advisory

The results – a meaningful meeting of minds and a beautiful new website

It has been a pleasure to be part of the process, leading in the early stages to bring clarity to the brief and stepping back latterly as Studio Small has charmed the brand into reality. We are truly excited to share with you the results of the labours of Studio Small and the ADAM team as we venture into new territory with a genuinely responsive identity and transformational website – adamarchitecture.com
